PlaneTalk

PlaneTalk logoThis is where I sell my book/DVD package PlaneTalk - The Truly Totally Different Guitar Instruction Book/DVD. it's also the home of the PlaneTalkers' Forum, a private discussion board where buyers of the package can discuss it all.

The package has been selling from this site since 1997, teaching players from all over the World the 'trick' to turning your entire fretboard into friendly, familiar, well worn territory. Endorsed by Tommy Emmanuel, its comic-strip format, unique Guitar Slide Rule and companion DVD will advance your playing by light years. Check it out.

slide DVD

I've been playing slide guitar since 1969. Like most players, I started out in open tunings, the traditional way to play bottleneck. After several years, I got tired of sounding like every other slide player out there — forced to play those inversions and clichéd licks — so I decided to try standard tuning. To my delight, I found a rich array of positions, a very friendly fretscape. I then tried dropped D and discovered the best of both worlds. I've stuck Slidewith that ever since. In 2006, I put put together a 70 minute DVD revealing all I know about the art of playing slide guitar in Standard and Dropped D Tunings. I also sell the beautiful slides pictured here, machined to my specs from solid brass. Click the images to find out more.

My teaching site. With over 110,000 members (12-2011) and growing daily, this is where I post my movie lessons. It's also home to the friendliest, most civilized guitar forum out there. If you have any questions about any aspect of playing guitar — from theory to buying to technique to gear to recording — anything — this is the place to ask.

Click on the lesson titles in the player below to hear them. ( the image-link to each lesson does not work from this server — go to the lessons here.)
